About the art
Artist statement
The Knave of Hearts assumes the role of a ruthless butcher. His right hand firmly grips a sharpened knife, while in his left hand, he disdainfully displays a heart that moments ago was beating. This symbolism delves into the most perverse and sinister nature of the character, revealing his willingness to deploy any stratagem to satisfy the darkest desires of the Red Queen.
The knife, emblematic of his skill in the art of violence, serves as a reminder of his readiness to challenge limits and transgress boundaries, while also reflecting the coldness of his determination.
However, it is in the hand that holds the heart where the true essence of this hired killer is revealed: the brutality of his actions and his willingness to execute the Queen's orders without hesitation. The intense gaze of the Knave of Hearts adds a layer of complicity, inviting the viewer to question their own inclinations towards darkness.
