About the art
Artist statement
Born in 1982 in Thailand, Chamnan Chongpaiboon discusses the beauty of woman with a flavor of retro fashion with vibrant color palette and simple composition.
Chongpaiboon merges pointillism and Aboriginal dotting technique to create artwork in his own style. For him, each dot represents an alphabet. The continuous stream of dots forming circles represents the forming of words. Several rings of circles put together in one place represents the forming of story.
The idea of circle also refers to a deeper meaning to the artist. As a Buddhist, Chongpaiboon believes in the notion of a “Wheel of Dhamma” which represents completeness, peach, and eternity.
