NOTE: These are the same two 24 x 24 inch collages on wood panels that are also listed separately for sale: Shades of Blue I and Shades of Blue II. Thus, it is not possible to buy both the this pair here and one of the individually listed collages. If you would like both, buying them here as a pair saves the buyer money, saves the artist time in packaging them , and decreases the carbon footprint of the shipment. These two square panels could be hung as a vertical diptych one above the other on a narrow wall or side by side.
The varying shades of blue and pattern were made by cutting up and reassembling hand-printed botanical cyanotype prints from plants in my own garden. The same fern was printed repeatedly in different hues of the same blue by varying the seconds of exposure to light.
The paper is sealed with a very thin coat of rubbed-on cold wax medium, not a thick layer of hot melted encaustic wax. This matte barely perceptible layer protects the paper against dirt, dust and moisture, but does not have the noticeable thick, shiny, glassy look of an encaustic finish. The 1.5-inch deep sides of the wood panel are painted white, making it ready to go on the wall without framing. There is a hanging wire on the back of both.
Without a gap they span 48 inches (120 cm) when hung either vertically or horizontally. With a gap, slightly more.

My paintings and prints are always nature-inspired and nearly always monochromatic. Each one is an immersion in …
