Artist statement
'Clairvoyant' depicts a female figure posed in a standing position. Typical of Clark Camilleri, this piece
seeks to elevate the beauty of the female form, with attention aimed at perfecting the proportions. The design
is mostly minimalist with hints of cubism. Omitting details like facial features is done purposefully to evoke
the imagination, thus retaining its highly abstract nature. Overall the form the stands out as a symbol of
power and beauty, this being the ultimate purpose.
Sculptures created in concrete are made using a combination of layering and carving; addition and subtraction.
Concrete is added gradually to a rigid frame, as it cures more layers are then added or removed as the form
develops. A process requiring time and focus, often taking weeks or months to complete a single piece.
The final result offers a unique work with a surface layer comprising of multiple layers meshed and intertwined
together.
