About the art
Artist statement
This is from my large format Flux series, over the years since approx 2015 I have created various versions, smallest size 40 x 40 cm. This painting was created with another version of the same size, the other was sold to a private client shortly after completing. This painting was exhibited in my solo exhibition Metropolis in London 2018.
As with other versions, this technique is complex and takes various stages to complete. Starting with areas of spray paint that are layered with many colours that I choose specifically to create tone and interest over the square. The squares within the overall square can be seen as miniature paintings due to the intense detail.
