Encaustic, oil, pan pastel, ink, paper on walnut wood panel in a custom reclaimed maple float frame.
The Wolf and the Dove. They appeared in this painting suddenly and I knew it was finished. The symbology of the dove- peace, freedom, love and the wolf- loyalty, family, protection and other noble traits. The characteristic they have in common? Freedom.
As I see it, the wolf is behind the wheel of a car and the dove appears to have its wing on the shoulder of the wolf; or maybe even riding alongside? Either way, abiding poetically in the same space.
