Artist statement
Continuing his series of powerful cactus paintings, Virtosu's "Thick Boi" was created with contrast in mind. A bright and powerful yellow gradient background made using spray paints exudes warmth and optimism, while a strong, thick oil-painted cactus stands in contrast to the smooth surface of the background.
The blue cactus depicted was created with thickness in mind, the artist wanting to emphasize the material as much as possible and play on the variations of color.
"Thick Boi" is a spectacular work when seen in real life and it's presence will definitely be a conversation starter. The work comes framed with an American box type black wooden frame.
