Artist statement
As an foreigner I have an obscure idea of home thus for me landscape is often felt as an object of attachment. I often return to sensations that I have felt in a place, thus creating a landscape filled with my personal experiences. Landscapes are altered in memory and become a relative vision perceived through our own filter. As we acclimatize, internalize, touch and influence, as our sentiments fuse with our surroundings we transform one another.
Locus Of Memory is a series of in-camera double exposed images. They are instinctually fused and overlapped in the same way that memories of places are entwined to create new feelings and impressions about our former selves. The internal landscapes we create are made out of memory and nostalgia, as are the images in this series.
