Artist statement
This black-and-white underwater photograph captures a lone freediver gracefully suspended in an expansive, cloud-like seascape. The diver, positioned centrally and small in scale, appears almost weightless as they float in the vastness around them. The grainy texture of the water creates a dreamlike atmosphere, enveloping the diver in a soft, ethereal haze that feels both serene and isolating. The minimal composition, with no visible horizon or frame of reference, heightens the sense of solitude, inviting the viewer to contemplate the diver’s insignificance within the seemingly infinite Mediterranean Sea. This tranquil, contemplative scene speaks to the quiet power of the ocean and our deep connection to it.
