Artist statement
Dada Duo is a dialogue between dualities, a connection that exists in the relation of bonds created between two entities, it explores how the reflection of each one can be perceived in the other. / I believe my work resonates with the term “Heterotopias”, which Foucault conceptualizes as the accumulation of time. It’s the process of creating and making. I am guilty of being seduced by things that are irreparable. I have an impulse to fix things, though I have a persistent tendency for creating ephemeral environments. I divide my work between the tangible and the abstract intangible, trying to find cohesiveness in mediums and ideas. My artistic process is a flux, an attempt at finding order in a chaotic state. It allows me to be impulsive and have an obsessive automatization in my actions. The research behind my practice is extremely fundamental, it is one of my strong qualities. My body of work is accompanied by writings, studies, diagrams, and reflections. I continue to search for new opportunities to exchange knowledge to learn and grow my practice. My creative process is a hybrid destruction and resurrection-movement. Creating visual symphonies, resulting in chaotic voices influencing a defined social space. They constitute cycles, transforming and materializing the dialogue I engage with. I attempt to inspire viewers into considering the connection between the factual, the scientific and the creator. I am interested in creating connections within the audience that reflect to the work itself. I am captivated by interdisciplinary dialogue, an artistic practice stemmed from the expansion of psychogeographies. My personal art practice focuses on anthropological examinations, such as the rapid changes in social behavior concerning technology and globalization, that stem from my multicultural background and exposure. My process allows for different media and methods that strive together to become stimulating environments.
