Artist statement
DUNAS TAPESTRY is a one of a kind contemporary artwork representing a beach dune landscape. Everyday the tides and the wind brings new sand textures and shapes to the beautiful portuguese beaches and dunes have a major role providing natural coastline protection against storm surge and high waves, and they are as well an important ecological habitat and sand storage areas. This artwork is handmade using tufting technique and pure portuguese wool yarn with anti-moth treatment. The bass-relief is carved with scissors, creating different heights and a textured based landscape.
