About The Artwork
One of the qualities of color is called tones Tones are colors that gray has been added to. Adding gray to a color reduces it's intensity and purity. The results are often very beautiful soft colors and dark muted tones. Most of the colors in this painting are warm tones with the added contrast of pure bright splotches of red and a strong white arc. The addition of the red and white shapes gives the painting an element of surprise and mystery.
