About the art
Artist statement
"The cathedral n°7", acrylic on canvas, 130X92cm.
This artwork is sold UNSTRETCHED, shipped in a transport tube.
Cities or historical architectural elements are also interesting subjects for painters. Besides, there is no bad subject...
This work is freely inspired by french author's Victor Hugo's famous book "Notre Dame de Paris". If "Notre Dame", the building, is one of the major gothic elements of french historical architecture, the style of Victor Hugo's book is romanticism, the true one, the dramatic one, which is the antithesis of classicism.
This painting is done in a modern, disquieting style, a humble tribute to Beksinski and his nightmarish artworks.
The representation of the construction is less important than the meaning, left freely open to interpretation.
The main colours are blue-grey, transparent brown, orange...
The painting will be delivered signed on the front and on the back, UNSTRETCHED, with an invoice and a signed certificate of authenticity. The shipment is carefully packed and tracked.
