About the art
Artist statement
The entrance of a church is a clear point of passage, the precise limit between an inside and an outside, a metaphor built to represent the transition from a physical reality to a spiritual reality. Even an atheist, entering a church (especially an Italian church), will experience the abrupt transition from the open air to the closed, fresh and humid scent, impregnated by the smell of incense and ancient wood; he will especially experience the transition from light to shadow, and will perceive the sensation of having approached the border with the unknown and the inexplicable.
The plywood panel has a little bending, as well described in the secondary pics of the painting, the defect can be easily fixed with the framing.
