Artist statement
This sculpture started with a piece of broken blue marble, a beautiful structure in a soft blue color. I thought that would fit nicely with the slightly transparent, cloudy alabaster.
On closer inspection I appeared to have made a shape that is strongly reminiscent of an alabastron: a variant of the Ancient Greek pottery. A small, elongated jar to save. Nice to have such beautiful predecessors.
