Artist statement
With great sculptural skill, Flavio Robalo creates an atmospherically dense cosmos centered on female figures that seem dreamlike and immersed in themselves. The artistic interest is not so much in the telling per se, the depiction of certain incidents, but rather in the exploration and visualization of deep human emotions such as vulnerability, strength, freedom or loneliness. Robalo's works refer to an existential dimension: they can be understood as the essence of being human that has become material.
