About the art
Artist statement
This soothing and ethereal abstract landscape diptych was inspired by the views of the Venice lagoon in winter, when the land, the sea and the mist merge into one another and nothing can be set apart. I love the atmosphere this painting creates, that is both calming and evocative, making me imagine magical fairy-tales places.
The surface of this mixed media abstract work is created with sand and paper. It's then painted with acrylic colors, pearlescent pigments and satin varnish. Being richly textured, it gives the viewer both a visual and a tactile experience. Also, the metallic effects and the varnish allow the painting to shine in different ways depending on the light of the room.
Size of the diptych: 45x60x0.1 inches - 114.3x152.4x0.3cm on aluminum Dibond board; size of each panel: 45x30x0.1 inches - 114.3x76.2x0.3 cm). It's signed on the back and can be hanged as it is or framed.
