The serie PECK YA FREE captures the indomitable drive for freedom in a powerful and playful image. A woodpecker, symbolizing perseverance and liberation, drills its sharp beak straight through the frame, as if breaking through the boundaries that confine it. The frame no longer serves as a limitation but as an obstacle to be overcome.
In the background, the phrase “peck ya free” is subtly yet unmistakably carved, serving as a call to liberation, transformation, and the breaking of imposed structures. The combination of the woodpecker’s physical action and the engraved words creates a layered artwork where movement, symbolism, and material interaction converge.
With PECK YA FREE, the viewer is challenged to reflect on the limitations that surround them. Is freedom something granted, or must it be actively seized? The woodpecker demonstrates that true freedom is not only physical but also psychological: breaking through mental barriers, rigid thought patterns, and inner constraints. Through action and perseverance, both visible and invisible boundaries can be transcended.
