This is the title painting from the Fugue States Collection - A series of paintings inspired by questions about memory and identity.
Fugue State is a meditative painting, within the flowing movement of the painting are a series of half-formed things - shapes drawn out of the darkness.

Fugue State captures the artist's questions about the validity of memory, in particular the idea that the deeper we look inside the less clear our sense of external identity becomes.
The artist created the painting in layers, each new layer hides parts of the one beneath, responding to it but altering it.

If you look at the detail photos you can still see traces of the lower layers and blurred sections as they bleed into one another. This intentional brushwork gives the painting a mystery.

Fugue States is a powerful statement painting and would bring a strong focal point to a dining or bar area.
