Artist statement
Painting from Parr's body of work, "Public, Private, Secret"
Public, Private, Secret relates to the three separate areas, sometimes overlapping, which we inhabit in our daily lives.
This series was started at the end of 2019 and just before the Covid 19 Pandemic started, but whilst working on this body of work, Parr found her practice, not surprisingly, affected by this strange and difficult time.
As she continued on with this series, it became clear that it was providing the perfect escape for her, a freedom to experiment and explore a narrative, away from the problems of the real world, still referencing it, but through a shifted reality.
