Painting from Parr's body of work, "Public, Private, Secret"
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us…. A tale of 2 cities - Charles Dickens 1859
This series was started at the end of 2019 and well before the Covid 19 Pandemic started, but whilst working on this body of work, the Artist has found her practice, not surprisingly, affected by news of this strange and difficult time.
The painting is signed on the canvas side and ready to hang. The deep edged canvas side shows some signs of the painting process.
