Story:
Throughout my many visits to New York City, I’ve always been captivated by the numerous water tanks perched on rooftops. Although my primary focus is on water, these tanks have become a distinctive part of my photographic collection.
Last week, I received an invitation to participate in a photography competition titled "Water Tanks and Their Role in Helping Communities Around the World in the Face of Climate Change." As I read through the details, the issue of shrinking glaciers was also highlighted.
I submitted images of a glacier in Bolivia that has completely vanished, alongside photos of the traditional wooden water tanks that are common in New York City. In my opinion, the wooden design of these tanks could be replicated at a lower cost than the metal or concrete alternatives, offering a more affordable solution for water storage in communities affected by climate change.
