About the art
Artist statement
My practice is rooted in ethnographical research and translating that research into community-based oriented projects, often in the form of paintings, photography, and public mural to address racial complexities. The “Object and subject painting” is part of scrapings from facade of the whitewashed mural from the site (617 W. Evergreen Ave). The work poses a larger question of redlining and gentrification from the perspective of Korean international artist perspective, which from a “mono-racial society.”
