Description:
Enjoying a positively buoyant personality with moods to spare, the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown Los Angeles has a lunar like exterior façade of silvery reflected light. The luminous reflected light is reminiscent of the round reflectors used on studio lots…the light of Hollywood dreams. Certainly cubist. No single image reveals the whole. Though the walls are abstract, one can imagine a multitude of forms from drive-in movie screens to the spinnaker on a sailboat. Perhaps even a stainless steel flower? My love for all things in nature will never be displaced, but grand and powerful structures such as this have me completely captivated. By all accounts, Frank Gehry’s design is a contemporary architectural masterpiece…an iconic landmark not to be missed.
