Artist statement
This painting is descended from Kacho-ga (painting of flowers and birds) and Suiboku-ga (ink-wash painting) in Japan. They find value in space itself and arouse infinite imagination. It has a unique Japanese 'ma' culture. He sought to update Japanese art by converting "modern-day lightness" into "classical weight".
