Artist statement
'The Holy Collector' is part of a series of works inspired to Art Fairs. Huang has been moving inside art fairs almost incognito, behaving as both actor and spectator and selecting scenes, people, and situations that she has first drawn from life with digital tools. The painting shows a scene from Art Basel art fairs captured by previous visits of the artist to the fair in Miami - in the specific a wit representation of a well-known collector choosing a work at a gallery's booth with his following of gallerists, gallerinas and advisors.
