CODED PAINTINGS
Taking as a reference the analysis of deconstruction and the supposed unviability of the codes of communication for representation, and more specifically of pictorial language, Imanol Marrodán, using a "heuristic" method and through his "Codified Paintings", intends to deny the historical representational quality of the pictorial method, to make his works independent "objects", finally freed from their representational obligation. It is the "Object Image" that asserts itself by its mere material presence and becomes an autonomous body, an "artefact" that demands a new way of being contemplated.
The ontological reason for these paintings, called "Nuclei of Emotion" or "Coded Paintings", is determined by colour and light, which are the essence of sensory communication and emotional transmission beyond any rational explanation.
These objects are framed within the Zen aesthetic, inspired by the hexagrams of the I Ching or Book of Mutations, and are a reference to the Taoist universe and Eastern thought and culture.
