Artist statement
Composition in Red is a work that belongs to the series "Dorados" and has red and black as protagonists. In this series the format I used is square because it is a very balanced and stable shape, which allows me to create a boxed space that is always black. Here I explored the textures and the fusion or integration of black and red, who eats who? There is a golden horizontal line above that begins to invade the red. It is a Dadaist and abstract expressionist work. With this series I have tried to start working on abstraction and let go of figuration a bit.
This work has a small black wooden frame and with the frame it measures 52.5 x 52.5 x 4 cm and without the frame the work measures 50 x 50 cm. It is signed on the front and on the back.
