Artist statement
This piece was created in response to an earlier piece called Chenango. Chenango had a channel that ran through the center of a solid 8" X 7.5" Cedar plank. I decided to eliminate the outer edges of the plank and cut back to the contours of the channel. It worked. Undertow comes with a removable base. The bottom 18” of the sculpture easily slides into the slotted base
