About the art
Artist statement
This piece is part of a series. I like to work with paper because I can cut it up, layer it, use it to create texture, experiment with different types of paper, paint transparently on it, paint opaquely on it, paint over what I’ve painted. I like to work with lines and simple shapes because I can create a simple composition, then keep tweaking the color to create spaciousness, luminosity, and presence.
