Text in Engelund’s new works becomes more prominent than his previous work ranging from poetic playfulness to addressing philosophical problems. Soulful, channeling the progressive California spirit Engelund’s new paintings are an investigation into universal if personal metamodern concerns.

Engelund earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts with Distinction at the California College of Arts and Crafts and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Davis. In addition to numerous private collections, work by Engelund is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Photographic Arts at the San Diego Museum of Art.
