About the art
Artist statement
This oil painting on a linen canvas depicts Montferrier sur Lez, a hilltop village in the south of France. Watercolours made in situ were used as studies for its making. The painter conveys his impressions of this magnificent village overlooking vineyards and pays a particular attention to the contrast between light and shadows. Owing to its size this painting does not really require framing.
The sides (2cm) are painted black for presentation.
This painting is featured in an art book called 'Le Grand Montpellier et ses peintres' ('Papillon Rouge editions -2017)
