About the art
Artist statement
This oil painting shows the sun filtering through pine trees. The minimalist treatment and the mixture of dark shapes in the shadows contrasted with lit areas gives a semi abstract effect. Sketches and a watercolor made in-situ were used as studies. Its making in successive glazes ( 6 to 10 layers depending on the opacity of the pigments) brings depth and luminosity to this work. It is sold unframed but ready to hang with sides painted black for presentation.
