About the art
Artist statement
'La Pointe Courte' is a picturesque little harbor located at the northern entrance of Sète, a seaside town in the south of France. This oil was painted on a linen canvas in successive glazes from watercolors ans sketches made in-situ. This technique gives depth and a great luminosity but is a bit tiresome because a drying time of 2 weeks is required between each layer (so it took several months to realise it!). In this work you can see a clutter of crates, fish traps, poles and drying nets. In the background are the wooden huts in which fishermen store their fishing gear. This painting, because of its size, doesn't need a frame. The sides are painted black. It is ready to hang. This oil painting is featured p.104 in the book '' Peintres et Couleurs d'Occitanie' (published in october 2022)
