About the art
Artist statement
This oil painting conveys the atmosphere of 'Salagou' lake which is located in South-East France. In the painting beyond the blooming almond trees you can see the village of' 'Celles' and the surrounding hills. This synthetic view is highlighted by the color contrast between the red ochre color of the rocks in that area, the range of blue hues of the lake, the green and ochre of the sparse Mediterranean vegetation, the white and pink shades of the almond trees and the yellow sky in this late Spring afternoon. The oil was realised in successive glazes on a linen canvas. Sketches and a watercolor made in-situ were used as studies for this work. It has a discreet frame (see last photo) and is ready to hang.
Size without the frame: 73x60x2 cm Size with the frame:76x63x2 cm
