About the art
Artist statement
This painting represents the East side of 'Pic Saint-Loup' a mountain which is a famous landmark in the Montpellier area in the south of France. A watercolor made in-situ was used as a study to realize it. On the left ridge a medieval fortress , 'le château de Montferrand', blends into the rocks. Three cypresses stand out against the scrubland at the foot of the mountain. I tried to simplify this landscape which I see every day from my studio leaving out all unnecessary details. This work is ready to hang.
