Artist statement
Mock orange trees in the garden, woven strips of painted paper mixed with a floral pattern to create a pointillist painting/collage.
Inspired by the flowering mock orange, Murraya paniculata. After heavy rain the trees in our garden burst into flower then rain their little white petals down. Continuing my goal from the start of this year to create more dimension in my art, I have moved with this work into painting with paper. Pre-painted strips of recycled paper have been woven with a pattern designed from a piece of vintage fabric to create a pointillist view of the trees.
