About the art
Artist statement
This piece represents part of my Variegated body of work which looks at patterns found in plants at the microscopic level. The soft white wax wash allows the beautiful natural grain of the wood to show through, decorated with a scattering of cut paper in a mix of metallics and neutral tones.

Variegated Collection:
Jennifer’s intricate paintings, paper cuttings and paper weavings capture the delicate aesthetic of nature in this series of works, variegated. Through the meditative process of making these often fluid pieces she creates varied and elaborate compositions that celebrate the simple beauty of leaves. Her work explores the complex patterns found at the microscopic level through to the venation system and tiny details often overlooked.
Beauty exists all around us, in the imperfect and in things we see every day but pay little attention to.
