Artist statement
My works are not painted but cast in oak panels using standard wall filler.
This work is part of Social Engineering, a series featuring stone imprints and a composition made with rulers and/or compasses, the instruments architects and engineers use to divide space. The series is titled after cognitive biases.
Self-assessment is a group of cognitive biases about our difficulties in evaluating our own abilities. A well-known one is the impostor syndrome, where we have an internalised fear of being exposed as frauds.
