About the art
Artist statement
“DUMBELL” sculptural coffee table / sculpture / object /
Two metal spheres seemingly flow like mercury into each other
Molded from a self developed metal-based material: “Industrial fossil”.
Consisting mostly of metal, strengthened by a small amount of binder-resin, allowing the composite to be cold-formed /casted.
The metal surface is sanded and polished, revealing glimpses of metal pieces and hardware. Making the object appear like an industrial fossil from the future.
The flattened bottom of one sphere creates a stable base. The flattened top of the other sphere forms a tabletop
The design is inspired by the laws of physics, balance, strength, gravity, weight and stability.
A visually interesting and challenging object.
