Artist statement
Part of a series of Goddess Flowers created for my exhibition ‘Vortex of the Huetopia’ in New York.
Inspired by the idea of a magical, mythological garden with flowers for each goddess.
Demeter is the Greek goddess of the harvest and the seasons.
This is a hand-made sculpture encrusted with different varieties of glass and a smattering of 24-carat gold. The beaded stamens can be twisted around a finger or pen as desired.
Demeter is published in my book ‘Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic’ (Schiffer Publishing USA). It will be sent in a custom plywood box a certificate of authenticity and a certificate of registration on the NRAA (National Registry of Australian Artists).
