About the art
Artist statement
Imperfection is a wall sculpture that reflects the philosophy of wabi-sabi—a Japanese appreciation of beauty in imperfection and impermanence—as well as the idea of harmony in opposites.
"Imperfection" serves as a metaphor for reality, where flaws and deviations from the norm become sources of strength and uniqueness.
The round plaster relief symbolizes wholeness and completeness, yet it features a prominent square-shaped cut. The square, a symbol of order and symmetry, is deliberately disrupted. The artwork conveys the acceptance of the world as it is, with its imperfections, ruptures, and unpredictable turns. Through this piece, the artist invites viewers to reflect on their perception of perfection and how life’s imperfect moments make it authentic.
This light-toned monochrome relief will seamlessly complement a modern minimalist interior.
