Artist statement
Conceptual artwork "Matter and Silence" explores the dialogue between materiality and emptiness, texture and smoothness, sound and silence.
The upper section composed of large peices of smalti creates a complex surface - like frozen movement, fragments of time reflecting the chaotic nature of life. In contrast, the lower section made of recycled paper is smooth, almost silent, like en erased memory or a space untouched be events.
Matter and silence is an attempt to capture a transitional state, the boundary between fullness and emptiness, between what can be touched and what is felt only intuitevely.
