Familiar

This artwork draws inspiration from the concept of familiars, which were believed to be supernatural entities that aided witches and cunning folk in their magical practices. In this painting, I've taken a unique twist on this idea: the witch's soul has transferred into her familiar, a bird, effectively making the bird a witch in its own right.

The image of the bird perched on the skeleton hand of its former human body symbolizes a profound transformation, illustrating the transcendence of the witch's spirit beyond her physical form. Remarkably, the witch's connection to her ruby ring endures; she now wears it around her neck, signifying its enduring significance to her powers.

To navigate the darkness, the bird-witch ingeniously carries candles upon her head, portraying her resourcefulness and adaptability in her newfound form.
