About the art
Artist statement
A muted skyscape based on the tones of raw linen. This extra large work is part of a trilogy collection, exploring this specific palette. The artist believes that low frequency, organic pigments increase feelings of calm and serenity. The composition is pared back for the same reason: to promote clarity of mind and a sense of peace. In contrast to 'Raw Linen Sky', this painting has a higher degree of abstraction.
Most of the brushwork is softly blended. In places, rougher brushwork renders the sense of the fabric more in downward strip fashion. Glazes were built in layers to maintain a sense of lightness and transparency.
