About the art
Artist statement
The inspiration for this work comes from the gold and ultramarine blue often utilised by Yves Klein in his artworks. I began designing a digital image of a Japanese cherry blossom tree on the computer. I then developed it further by applying thick layers of texture by hand. These layers were created using gel medium, oil paint, oil sticks, and chrome paint, which I applied using tools such as my fingers, sponges, rollers, palette knives, and brushes. The painting measures 120 x 160 cm and is mounted on a linen aluminium 3D frame.
