Artist statement
Dead Dust features in my recent exhibition Slow Burn (2022). Here I presented a suite of paintings staged as a wake. Set among oil fires and geological ruptures, psychedelic succulents emerge triumphantly in centrifugal motion. Here I reflected on both personal and broader societal/environmental malaise, insistently finding a flicker of redemption through tragicomic humour. After the end, the world I rendered is defiant, an emergent landscape, alien now to a dead past.
