Artist statement
Dusk, an atmospheric mood, fading, transitioning into hiding, into the shadows until the day rises again. A composition of acrylic paint, plaster, sand and pastels, inspired by the volatility of the moment and the mysteriousness of the hidden. Exploring an intense, yet playful way how colours create light and shadows while drawing you into hidden depths.
In her mixed media works, Katja Wittmer creates colour compositions that invite to curiously explore beyond what is apparent at first glance. Playing with form, texture and abstraction, Katja Wittmer develops the wonderful complexity of colour -in an interplay that extends through several layers, she achieves a unique and highly individual compositional power, creating her own unmistakable style of abstract modern art.
