Artist statement
Art Deco 14e4 is an abstract construction from parts of another abstract image (Hammers and Strings 107b), which were then manipulated, rotated and recombined into an Art Deco geometric pattern. There are quite a few different images in the Art Deco series formed this way formed this way. In Art Deco 14e4, I have used several elements of the original image, flipped, rotated, and re-combined to form the central diamond structure, as just a singular shape for the whole image, rendered in opaque purple, with the radiating background in cobalt blue and pale gray
