About the art
Artist statement
Butterflies Opening the Door to Eternity 1b is an abstraction of part of an image in the Food Kiosk series which are reflections from a stainless steel food cart taken at night on 6th Ave in NYC. There are several images in the Butterflies series taken from a couple of different Food Kiosk images but all are related. In this version (Butterflies Opening the Door to Eternity 1b) I have selected just two "butterflies" to be opening the door (some versions have up to 6) and what lies beyond the door is dark, mysterious and unknown, but clearly there is some form right near the door, suggestive of a person whose back is turned to us, so it is clear if we enter, we will encounter someone. or something, right away.
